A serious multi-vehicle accident brought traffic to a standstill on Interstate 12 near the Goodbee and Robert exits on Thursday, October 2, 2025. Authorities confirmed that the crash involved a truck that veered into the woods and as many as six to seven cars, blocking all three lanes of the highway.
The accident happened in the westbound lanes heading toward Hammond from Covington, according to multiple eyewitnesses stuck in traffic. Both directions of I-12 experienced significant delays as emergency responders worked on the scene.
Witnesses reported seeing police, fire rescue, and medical crews rushing to the site. A helicopter was also spotted attempting to land, likely to airlift injured individuals to nearby hospitals.
Traffic was at a complete standstill for hours, with frustrated drivers sharing live updates on social media.

Dozens of others echoed prayers and calls for drivers to slow down and drive more cautiously, with some describing I-12 as one of the most dangerous highways in the state.
As of Thursday evening, all lanes remained closed, and drivers were advised to avoid the area entirely. Crews from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) and local police were working on clearing the scene and investigating the cause of the crash.
The number of injuries has not yet been confirmed, and officials have not released the identities of those involved. The crash remains under investigation.
